Nepal Mission Trip 20 Nov to 27 Nov 2023
Elder Jimmy Lim
Jun 2024

We have been conducting discipleship and spiritual development training from year 2019 till November 2023 with breaks in between during the covid period.

The first training in November 2019 dealt with the Character, Competency and Calling of the Pastors. The trainer is Rev Dr Jimmy Tan, Chaplin of Trinity Theological College who share and taught from the book of Timothy. There were about 40 participants that came mainly from Kathmandu. In November 2022 we decided to train the pastors, elders and leaders on teaching and preaching the Bible correctly. We thank God for Rev Yap Beng Shin a retired missionary pastor from SIM for conducting the course on Creative Bible Exposition for about 40 pastors, elders and leaders that came from Kathmandu and Eastern Nepal. Another same course was conducted in March 2023 for another 20 plus pastors, elders and leaders by Rev Yap Beng Shin.

In November 2023, we decided to conduct a course on Purposeful and Abundant Life in Christ. The objective was to share that the abundant life that Christ mentioned in John 10:10 is not something that one can only experience when our Lord returns. It is a life that one can experience upon becoming a believer, follower and disciple of Christ. This training was done in partnership with Synod Mission Council & members from Singapore Life Church. Altogether there are 9 trippers for this trip. The training was done at Ratnagiri Resort Nargakot. Participants of about 40plus came from Kathmandu and Eastern Nepal for the training. The topics covered include God's Perfect Purpose, Man Corrupt's Purpose, Jesus' Redemptive Purpose and Man's Restored Purpose. Time was given to the participants to reflect on the lessons and see how they can apply them in their faith journey to live out the life and life abundantly in Christ. Prayerfully, these participants will follow the example of Christ to live out their calling and purpose. With the experience of life and life abundantly, they can thereafter empower their congregations and members to do likewise.

We also worship at our Nepalese mission enabler Pastor Timothy's church and Pastor Beng Peng Tian from Singapore Life Church preach a message as an encouragement to the congregation. We also did home visitation to some of his church members.

The team also took the opportunity to visit Grace Tuition Centre, a community arm of Singapore Life Church that provide free tuition for the preschoolers from the slum areas in Kathmandu. Love gifts and food supplies were given to the parents of the children at the Grace Tuition Centre.

We hope through many of such trips in the future to bring much encouragement to the pastors, elders and lay leaders and equip them for the spiritual development and growth in faith for their congregational members.
