Nepal Mission Field Updates
Elder Jimmy Lim
Aug 2023

We thank God that during the Covid 19 pandemic we were able to contribute to the poor and needy in Kathmandu during the locked down period. We are thankful to many from the various Synod churches that contributed funding to enable our mission enabler in Nepal, Pastor Timothy to buy groceries for distribution to the needy families. More than 300 families benefited from this project.

We thank God that the door started to open for us to make mission trip again to Nepal. Altogether 4 trippers make the trip from 21/11 to 28/11/2023 to conduct training for 40 pastors and lay leaders. The trippers are namely Elder Jimmy Lim, Elder Susan Eng, Elder Justin Lee and Rev Yap Beng Shin (a missionary pastor from SIM). Rev Yap Beng Shin use a program known as Creative Bible Exposition which uses the left and right brain, colour coding and mind mapping to help the participants understand passages from the Bible. The method enable the participants to teach and preach the Bible accurately and correctly.

An afterglow event was held on 18/2/2023 at All Saints Presbyterian Church. 16 participants came to hear the update and progress of our mission work in Nepal. Aside from sharing, we had a time of fellowship over breakfast, prayer and dialogue session.

Another mission trip was made from 19/3 to 24/3/2023. Rev Yap Beng Shin was once again engaged by us to conduct training on Creative Bible Exploration in Pastor Timothy’s church for 22 participants. Elder Dr Yeap joined Rev Yap on 23/3 to support the mission work in Nepal. We thank God for another successful training for the pastors and lay leaders.

We thank God that we were able to raise funds for the needy students in terms of their school fee. The pledge received is $9,900 and $9,600 for the first and second year respectively. The amount received is enough to support 23 students' school fee for the next two years.

From 20/11 to 28/11/2023, another mission team of 9 trippers will conduct training for the pastors and lay leaders in Kathmandu. We continue to rely on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, rooted and grounded in the love of Christ to do His work in Nepal knowing and trusting that He will do abundantly more than what we can imagine and think for His glory and purpose.
